Personal Stories. Personalized Poetry. Many Communities. A Shared Purpose.
Our Vision
Help People Say What Matters.
We can feel love, gratitude, grief, and encouragement deeply, and still struggle to put them into words. Poets and writers can help bridge that gap.
The 3 Word Project is a developing umbrella nonprofit bringing that idea under one shared purpose: creating opportunities for personalized poetry to bring joy, inspire hope, and strengthen human connection.
Our vision is to connect people’s stories with poets who listen, while supporting the writers who bring those stories to life.
Our First Chapter
One Purpose. Room for Many Stories.
We’re beginning with the military community. As the organization develops, we hope to build on that foundation and explore other places where a personal poem could make someone feel remembered, valued, and less alone.
Flagship Initiative · Launching 2027
Poems for Patriots
Personalized poetry for military service members, veterans, and their families, bringing joy, hope, and meaningful connection to those who serve and those who stand beside them.
Through expressions of love, encouragement, gratitude, and remembrance, this first initiative gives our broader vision a place to begin.
These are possibilities we’re exploring for the future, rather than programs currently available. Each would grow through listening, thoughtful partnerships, and the needs of the people it serves.
Older Adults
Poetry that honors memories, celebrates a life, and brings personal connection to residents of retirement communities.
Hospitals & Hospice
Words of comfort, love, and remembrance for patients and the people beside them during difficult and meaningful moments.
People in Prison
Opportunities for expression, encouragement, and connection with loved ones through personalized poetry.
Everyday Connections
A thank-you, a quiet encouragement, or an unexpected gift: personal poems that help people express care in everyday life.
The People Behind the Words
A Poet Listens. A Story Takes Shape.
The heart of this work is a human exchange: someone shares what matters, and a writer helps give it a voice.
We envision a community of poets, including typewriter poets, whose creativity and care make each poem personal. Supporting their work is part of building a lasting organization.
